Fast Shutter – Powder Shots

Canon EOS Photo 5 Competition – ‘Powder’

As part of Canons competition, ‘Powder’ was one of the categories. The 3 here are the best of a bunch – over 160 shots were taken. Many useless (missed framings), some okay and a few contenders. Each were taken as fast as possible – around 1/8000 second in direct sunlight.

How I picked my favourite?

I am still not sure if I have, but the (2nd photo) flicking of the hand in line with the flight of the flour strikes me. The hand is an unusual position, but the picture is balanced. The contrasting of the dark background also help accentuate the focus of the flower.

All that said, I really like the ‘drama’ of the 1st photo, it’s just not as in-focus as I’d like 🙁
